Failed Hunter

My first contact with Monster Hunter was in 2018, after the release of "World" on Steam. Therefore, I did not experience the era of "posing after drinking medicine," "sharpening stones for hunting preparation," or "full-screen mosaic." In my eyes, "World" is just a refreshing action RPG game. Nothing more.

At the beginning, I would try to hunt alone, once fought with a Barroth for an afternoon, finally defeated it just before the cat nap, the sense of achievement was indescribable. However, later on, hunting alone became too painful, so I started constantly summoning other players, while I only needed to observe the moves and dodge carefully.

I followed this pattern until "Iceborne," but later due to my laptop's poor performance, I left it for a long time. After buying a Switch, I heard about the release of "Rise," and on the first day of release, I hurriedly entered the game. Once I no longer worried about performance issues, it seemed like the hunting spirit was reignited, but I still couldn't shake off my reliance on teammates. For slightly larger monsters, I wouldn't dare to go without a team. In the "Rise" era, after defeating the Rakna-Kadaki and obtaining the "Silkbind" supermodel skill, I tried hunting alone, only to suddenly realize that I couldn't even defeat the Great Izuchi in the event quest. Frustrated, I threw down the controller, mocking my own incompetence.

Reflecting on what attracted me to this game, the satisfying feeling of hitting the mark, the thrill of dodging and moving. It seems like it's all far from me. I used to fantasize about practicing day after day, but in reality, it never happened. A lazy player, an inadequate hunter.

Fortunately, this is just a game, not life.
